Book II: Aisling

Deochs 13 – 16

When Ramanayan woke up in Mileth Inn much had changed. His mind was different somehow – thoughts that never were there before now appeared. While he remembered his name and some vague details the rest of Ramanayan’s memory appeared to have failed him. After speaking with the mundane Inn Keeper, Riona, Ramanayan gained a bit more insight into his situation. As he suspected he was now an aisling and Riona confirmed that all new aislings make their way through the inn. She also confirmed that memory loss was one of the apparent side effects of receiving the aisling spark but would likely be recovered as time progressed.

As if it was a calling from the gods Ramanayan knew instantly he must become a priest. Wasting little time exploring Mileth Ramanayan found himself an aisling priestess to guide him onto the path of a priest. Ramanayan and his guide then ventured to the temple of choosing and he emerged a priest. That was the last time Ramanayan would ever see his guide again. Ironically Ramanayan attempted to seek out a mentor, Feril, but she too vanished after their first meeting. Undaunted Ramanayan continued his studies alone.

Deoch 13 quickly turned into 14, and over the next few moons Ramanayan concentrated most of his efforts on developing his priestly spells and skills and gaining new insights into become an aisling. Those moons were often were filled with dangerous bouts in the Mileth Crypts and the Eastern Woodlands. When a group could not be found Ramanayan learned how to wield a blade – and wield them effectively he did. Deochs later he would still joke that he could use a sword better then many warriors.

Perhaps it was destiny, or mere luck, that thrust Ramanayan against the forces of chaos and crime. As he was one day walking to into second floor of the Mileth Crypts Ramanayan encountered two high insight warriors summoning the dark demons of Sgrios and assisting the fiends in murdering other aislings. Ramanayan saw what was happening and took action immediately attacking one of the demons as other aislings ran for their lives. The lead warrior, Dovane, drew his blade and charged at Ramanayan attempting to land a disabling blow. Dovane’s beag suain attack had no effect on Ramanayan. The warrior was in disbelief and retreated with his partner in crime. Since that day in the crypt Ramanayan has never hesitated to attack something on head first that he felt was unjust or wrong.

As Ramanayan continued to hone his skills he began searching for a god to follow. Just like the calling to become a priest, the calling to follow Fiosachd was just as strong. Expecting a long drawn out initiation process Ramanayan was surprised when the lead high priest Bulbasaur welcomed him at once into the fellowship as if he was expecting Ramanayan to appear. Just several moons later after Ramanayan obtained his eleventh insight he became a full priest of the Fiosachd Fellowship.

As Deoch 15 dawned on Temuair Ramanayan had already began laying the foundations for his future. Ramanayan had reached the fifteenth insight and had taken his first student, Gwendaline. Following successfully mentoring Gwendaline Ramanayan took his first political office as a respected citizen of Mileth. In the Fiosachd Fellowship Ramanayan became a very active priest holding a mass each double moon and giving out religious geas. The Fiosachd priests Azov and IceAngel became Ramanayan’s earliest friends and allies within the fellowship during this time period as well.

Continuing work from his youth, even though he had forgotten most of it, Ramanayan greatly studied the history of Temuair. After many long hours of research and consulting records he discovered a discrepancy the historical records of Temuair and discovered an early pre-Tenes era battle between Danaan and Chadul. He wrote down his findings and submitted them in a historical work called “The Forgotten War” the following Deoch.

Deoch 16 began with a great sense of happiness and optimism. Ramanayan along with Azov, IceAngel, and the monk StephineX, began planning for a grand event: The Fiosachd Fair. The event would be the first of its kind since Mileth Fair III in Deoch 13 including Temurian Wrestling, an auction, a dress contest, gold lottery, and more. The fair was a great hit and many aislings enjoyed the experience.

Following the fair the religions across Temuair reformed themselves into a new order introducing such things as staffs and symbols, clerics, ministers, and high priests. While Balbasaur, the priest who initiated Ramanayan into the fellowship, was generally seen as the “High Priest” of the fellowship he had left Temuair before the expansions were revealed. In Balbasuar’s place stood the priestesses Fenna and Felicity, who quickly ascended to the top of the Fiosachd Fellowship’s degree structure.

One of the responsibilities of the High Priest’s was monitoring the fellowship’s message board. After several suspicious board burnings Ramanayan posted his feelings on the issue – which basically amounted to the High Priestesses were bordering on power abuse regarding the board and something should be done. He also objected to the lack of control the fellowship had over how religious geas were being given out. With these humble beginnings Ramanayan would soon be ready to step onto the stage of Temuair.
